Meet Jhavon, also known as Jay, the creator of Nailbed & Bar
She’s often the quiet one observing, imagining, designing the future of beauty while greeting you with the warm smile you expect the moment you walk in. After years immersed in the beauty industry, she grew determined to build what was missing. Yes, the city is full of nail salons, but none reflected her standards for what a truly luxurious, culturally rooted, and refreshingly modern beauty destination could be.
So she created Nailbed & Bar, a Washington, DC retreat where the community is celebrated, the experience is intentional, and every guest is treated like the only one in the room. Here, artistry and hospitality exist side by side, and always paired with a cocktail of something sweet.
But her vision didn’t stop at the salon doors.
Recognizing that not everyone has the time or access to high-quality nail artistry, she launched ABSTRX Nail Art Press-ons, an exclusive press-on collection that brings salon-level design to real life; literally! Every ABSTRX style begins on real women, crafted as wearable art that reflects their stories, their energy, their everyday icon moments. Those custom designs are then transformed and mass-produced as premium press-on nails, giving anyone, anywhere, the chance to wear on-trend nail art without the limits of time or location.
ABSTRX isn’t just another press-on brand; it’s a movement! Expanding access, elevating beauty, and capturing the artistry born inside our nail salon for the world to wear.
HOW WE GOT HERE
It all started in 2018 with a little niche nail salon rooted in creativity, culture, and community. A creative sanctuary where bold nail art met precision and technique. We set out to break the mold of the traditional nail experience, infusing fashion-forward designs, unapologetic self-expression, and luxury-level service into every set of nails we touched. What began at Nailbed & Bar quickly grew beyond our corner of the city. Our guests weren’t just coming in for manis + pedis—they loved the experience. And as our community grew, so did our vision.
Today, we’ve expanded into a full line of professional-grade nail products and accessories designed for everyday artists and beauty lovers.
